For something of that scope and depth, you'd be best off contacting attorneys on your own. You could use the Find-a-Lawyer tab above, or conduct your own independent searches. An attorney would probably want to thoroughly review the lease and discuss it with you, while the format here is... View More

That seems like a very high level of scrutiny if the account is in your name, you are not married, or don't have joint ties that could come up in any type of reports. In large cities where electric utilities serve millions of ratepayers, they don't generally track each and every member of... View More

In most cases, an oil company in bankruptcy must pay current royalties to its mineral owners with whom it has active oil and gas leases. Past royalties are often treated as claims against the bankruptcy estate. Whether the claim is secured or unsecured, or priority or nonpriority, depends on the... View More

If there is a warranty, make a claim. You can also do a small claims case for the damages.

Without knowing the facts of your case in detail it's difficult to provide you with an answer. You could consult with an attorney who can review the facts of your case and present you with the options. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558 HomerJordan.com

A Michigan attorney would know best because local laws can vary by jurisdiction. But your question remains open for three weeks. In some jurisdictions, it's considered a misdemeanor. In other's, it's treated as a fire and safety violation, with the onus on the operator of the... View More
I'm the Asst. Treasurer of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., a 501(c)(3) certified organization. We noticed tax on an invoice for propane from Norbert E. Mitchell (our supplier.) They said, "you are not exempt from the CT - LP- Gross Receipts Tax". Is this true, and if... View More

You are confusing your federal tax-filing status with state sales taxes imposed on most if not all corporations. Just because the FEDERAL IRS has given you tax-free status does not make you exempt for state sales taxes. If it did there would be zillions of 501s out there.
Is it legal to deny me electricity for a stranger's debt?

The amount of money involved is way too small to be of interest to most lawyers. FYI, the law is not designed to solve every little problem that comes your way during this lifetime; the Latin phrase for this rule is "De minimus non curat lex."

While your written lease terms will control this unusual situation==generally speaking--landlords are responsible to make sure that their leased property is suitable for living; and tenants do not have to remain in structures that are not in livable condition. Absent some unforeseen issues, IMO,... View More

A place to start here could be to contact a Texas attorney who deals with consumer issues/small contract disputes. The Energy, Oil and Gas section is more about large matters involving drilling rights, mineral rights, etc. Good luck

Pipe runs straight down property line with 25' just for access easements on each side. Now there is going to be a turn on to my property about 3 to 4 feet in towards my property from NW corner. If I understand your question and facts, your stating that the new pipe line will be on your property outside of the established easement which would require your consent otherwise you would be entitled to some compensation or a removal of the pipe line back within the easement already established.... If the children are now adults they may want to pursue a quiet title action against the grandparents.

Oil and gas law is complicated. The operator typically has the lion's share of the revenues because it pays for all the expenses and therefore has all the risk. If they spend a million and the hole is dry they eat all of the cost. However, a royalty interest owner pays nothing.

Realistically, you may not be able to get anything fixed within the time necessary. Your best bet may be to move out of your apartment.
