Your attorney probably cannot tell you how much you will receive before you sign. Medi-Cal won't even provide a reimbursement number until the settlement is signed. Medicare can take months to negotiate. Health insurers won't agree to a reduction of their reimbursement requests until... View More

There are companies who will identify possible insurers, for a fee. You can also write to the defendant and ask for that information. You would be better off, and have more chance of learning this information, if you hired an attorney. You will get very little respect as a self-represented claimant.

You can do that, but the defendant's motivation to settle, now that you do not have an attorney, will be substantially less. Do not be surprised if the offer is no longer there. Also, your former attorney might be a payee on the check along with you since he may have a claim to some portion... View More

Sounds like a workers compensation claim. If someone other than your employer dug the hole, or failed to barricade or place warning signs, you might have a negligence claim against them.
I was not at fault and the other party’s insurance company sent me a check, which I cashed. They’re now saying it was a mistake and I need to pay it back. Do I have to legally? What recourse can they take if I don’t?
answered on Dec 11, 2022
If they made you an offer (sent you a check), and you cashed it before the offer was retracted, you have a completed contract and should not have to refund the money. An attorney should review the entire transaction history before any judgment are made, however.

My father passed away in January 2020. He was in the Marines and was stationed at Camp Lejeune. I'm wanting to file a claim because he died as a result of being stationed there. Would my lawsuit need to incorporate his widow if she's remarried?

If she was married to your father at the time of his death, she likely needs to be included. The fact of re-marriage would likely affect her claim for damages, though. Discuss with a knowledgeable personal injury attorney.

You don't describe your injuries, or the cost of your medical care, or whether you have ongoing physical limitations. However, if you are done with therapy, it sounds like your injuries were not severe or permanent, in which case there is zero chance that your case will settle for $500k,... View More

You do nothing except notify your insurance company, or your employer's insurance company. You do not have a right to "shut down" somebody else's allegations. That is the purpose of a trial.
