As you know, the sporting goods store didn't file charges or put you on probation. A case for malicious prosecution or alike isn't easy to win. Finding an attorney could be difficult. Being placed on probation may not add up to much in damages ($.)

That is an interesting question. It is unlikely having physical possession of the certificates entitles you anything, but it may be looking into since you did purchase the contents. Share certificates are mostly ceremonial today. The corporation's records are the deciding factor.
