Technically, there is probably some liability there but it very likely wouldn’t be worth the time, money or hassle to pursue it. If you can get reimbursed what you’ve lost ( or most of it), you’ll still be ahead of the game.

The Union usually has a set off provision in their cardholder agreement which allows them to set off any monies in your account to the extent their debt is paid.
Daughter was in accident. Still owes for the car, boyfriend didn't pay insurance but credit union added a forced placed insurance policy. If that policy settles the loan for them. Does the vehicle then belong to my daughter or the credit union in Kentucky?

You don’t owe them any money (unless you signed something agreeing to pay) so do t pay them any money. It’s not worth look egss as l action at this point but you might want to write them a letter saying debt not owed.
