It depends on the laws in Pennsylvania and if this place is considered public. For example, in Florida there is a 2 party consent wire tap law. That is not usually how it goes. The judge will want all attorneys to enter their appearances.

Technically her mom could report her as missing. Given the distance seems like she needs to figure out if this guy is worth the money as it sounds like he is getting the better of the deal.
