Q: what if I unknowingly deposited a fraudulant check?

My boyfreind is in cape town. His UK bank account was locked so he had me send him my own funds through bitcoin. Now he had a "client" send me a check to deposit in my account so he could pull it through Krakken. The bank closed my account and said the check is fraudulant. I called... View More

Ask the bank to verify it. But it sounds fishy. You should be able to get your funds out of the bank. You sent your money to someone in S.Africa whose UK bank account was locked? That does look like more than a few red flags. Your boyfriend didn't even pay but had a "client" pay?... View More

Well, to be blunt, if you are not employed you don't have much to lose except your time, and you have free time. Without knowing the case it's hard to say but it's certainly worth a shot. If you are not working check with legal aid if someone will give you a free consult.

your local bar association can give you names. Or you can ask the family court who seems to handle adoptions and similar proceedings.

You will need to hire an attorney, but it seems that what you would do is file a petition to extinguish the father's rights. The court will order that there be a publication in the legal notices, etc.

While it might be possible to get a court to treat your husband as a step parent,...

I agree with Mr. Grabow. Understand companies base your case on the medical records, what they say. You stop seeing a doctor or you only tell the doctor 3 out of 7 things, they will say "doesn't look like much."

Assuming that you are only dating with no sexual activity you may date freely. However the age of consent is 16 so at that point, should you engage in sex, that would be legal.

Contact legal services or Catholic family services. The problem is that the "standard of need" tends to be artificial, and out of date. You need to find out what is available for you in terms of pulbic housing, housing assistance etc.

Q: I'm personal Rep. of my Dads Estate, does his wrongful-death award have to go to the Maryland court for disbursement?

I was told some states require wrongful death awards to go through their court to disburse funds to the beneficiaries, over-riding the terms in the deseased's will.

You should get advice from the attorney who represented you. In some cases part of the award goes through the estate and part does not. The wrongful death award does not get taxed. You may have other recoveries for medical expenses for which a deduction was taken and those would be taxed.
