So you want to sue because you wanted to submit someone else's work as yours to a college--this is called plagiarism--and you don't think the author of the work did a good job. First, if the citation was proper but someone made an error in the author's name it's a tad sloppy but... View More

The water company has told us we can't open a new account until the delinquent bill is paid, even though it is not in our name. We have tried telling them it's not our responsibility, but this is the answer we got. The property manager is also quite shady. We explained the issue to him,... View More

Not as long as you never agreed to pay. A part payment will perhaps keep the statute from tolling. Keep it simple--tell anyone that calls it is a disuputed bill due to age.

Q: My son-in-law bought 2 kittens from a woman (not a merchant) for $500. One kitten had been sick from the beginning.

My daughter took the kitten to the emergency Vet 2 days after she had her home and 5 times after that. They paid $5000 in Vet fees and the kitten died yesterday from a fatal virus that I assume she had from birth. She was less than 4 months old. Does my daughter have any recourse?

If it's just a member of the public, not a merchant, I don't see it. She can ask but the person can say no and I don't see a small claims case as she'd have to prove in fact the person knew of the defect at time of sale.

If there had been air bag deployment your vehicle may have been totaled anyway--have to add to the damages cost of replacing the airbag(s). Your fear of that didn't make it unusable. Also, if the hit was not dead center or within 7 degrees of top dead center, the airbag may not deploy. So... View More

Possibly take a small claims court case, for whether the costs are to verify your ownership, and get a replacement title. This is a big pain in the ass, but you set yourself up for it, by circumventing the law that the document needed to be completely filled out. Plus, you should have taken... View More

You need to at least get a consult from a consumer rights attorney. Go to www.naca.net for ones in your area. Ultimately you can file for bankruptcy. However you may have other remedies. Sounds like the receiver is overreaching--and a petition in court to replace him might work.
