Q: Hello, I'm currently researching for a lawyer that practices in hippa law violations.

More info can be provided once I'm guided in the correct direction of a lawyer who practices with confirmed and clear violation of the hipaa laws.

The person has been terminated from their medical position and this has caused excessive personal anguish.

I suggest you contact the human resources department and file a complaint. I don't know if your matter is really defamation as opposed to a breach of employee confidentiality. Otherwise, contact a labor law attorney.

Yes. If you can prove that your ex made a false statement of fact about you which disparages your reputation and was believed by others causing you to lose some amount of money that can be calculated with reasonable certainty, you could prevail on a claim for libel or slander.
