Q: What does it mean if I got sent a letter saying that the court has closed the case as a conviction?

I received a traffic ticket last year in Texas. I paid the ticket, plus an additional fee to not appear in court, as I live in CA. I missed signing and sending back the deferral paperwork. A couple of months later I received a letter that said:

"This Court, held a Show Cause Hearing in... View More

When a court in Texas closes a case as a conviction, it means that you have been found guilty of the offense for which you were cited. In your case, because you did not comply with the conditions of the deferred disposition for your traffic ticket, the court proceeded to adjudicate guilt. This... View More

Shopping mall parking lots are privately owned, but the public can navigate them. The next issue becomes if you were in or out of the vehicle or the... View More

Please look to Mr Blecher's answer in relation to roads and public parking lots. You say the officer didn't see you driving on a road. Maybe so, but the officer might say something different. Your claim that the officer didn't "see" you could be construed as an admission... View More

If I were to put these lights up only when in the parking lot for a car show and take them down after would that be illegal in california. These would be for display purposes only and would not be used for police impersonating or pulling people over.

No, this is not a defense to the charge. However, I would still recommend that you request a trial and not a waiver hearing. Sometimes the police officer does not appear.
